The weight loss dentist.
I did something scary today.
I went to the dentist.
Well OK, it wasn’t really that scary but I don’t think anyone looks forward to going to the dentist do they?
I had the usual lecture about flossing my teeth. There are things that I know I should do, that I know are good for me and yet I just never get round to doing. Flossing is one of those things.
The good news is that I still don’t have a filling in my head…impressive huh? The thing is I don’t really floss my teeth and I still have never had a filling so I don’t feel so bad about it.
The rest of the dentist lecture was a bit confusing. Apparently I have a pretty acidic diet and it is wearing away at the enamel of my teeth.
The dentist encouraged me not to have too much acid. I smirked at him and said I don’t. I don’t drink fruit juice, I rarely drink diet coke anymore and I don’t eat much citrus fruit.
Then I thought about it – I always use vinaigrette on my salad (I make it myself so I know it’s got a lot of vinegar or lemon juice in it), I drink white wine, I normally put a slice of lemon or lime in my sparkling water. Suddenly the acid count is looking up a bit.
So why am I telling you this?
Because there are always a hundred different opinions on food and drink, on what we should be eating, on what we shouldn’t be eating and why.
So how on earth are you supposed to work out what to do?
The best starting place is to talk to someone about your life, your concerns and understand which battles are important for you to win and which ones aren’t worth worrying about.
That is what we do at NuBeginnings weight loss boot camp. We make sure you only get advice that you can follow and that is right just for you. Weight loss is a personal thing – no one size fits all approach ever worked for me.
